German producer introduced since 2002 a concept that would consume 1 liter of fuel per 100 km, and since then has been planned as a model series to appear in 2012.
According to the latest rumors, coming from the direction of the manufacturer german, VW engineers are in advance this project, being helped and ieftinirea the price of carbon fiber in recent years. 5vw1-litre-green-car.jpg
Monococa structure of carbon fiber a  vehicle and innovative design are the main reasons for obtaining a model car to have a consumer so small.
To get the same performance with the initial model, Volkswagen will need to keep the design and aerodynamics, which means that a future production version will have a very small width of 1.25 meters and a coefficient of friction force only 0,159. Motorizarea will be a very economical, most likely a small diesel engine with two cylinders litre direct injection will be built of aluminum for a reduced lunch.
Even if the engine power will be very small, thanks to aerodynamic coefficient will be able to reach a maximum speed of 120 km / h. Equipping the model series with the safety systems will lead to weight lifting. Given such news, compared to the version concept, the future model will not be able to observe the border consumption of 1 litre to 100 km, but will be without indoia, the most economical model of the auto world.
About the price can not predict anything concrete, but estimated that the value of future model will not surpass the threshold of 30,000 euros.

Mystery Volkswagen GTI Performance Concept Presented at 2008 GTI Meet

 mystery-volkswagen-gti-performance-concept-presented-at-2008-gti-meet.jpg

The Wörthersee GTI Meet is taken very seriously by Volkswagen, take the insane GTI W12 650 Concept for example which was unveiled at last years event alongside the Audi TT Clubsport. This year sees a mystery Volkswagen GTI Performance Concept displayed although the German manufacturer has failed to provide any information about it leaving us to analyse the vehicle with our well trained eyes.

The striking exterior gets a widebody styling kit with lowered suspension and sport wheels which aerodynamically help enhance driving performance. When we get round to the rear we find 2 huge trapezoidal exausts tips surrounded by a few oversized wire mesh screens.  Look up into the boot to find a couple of nitrous oxide tanks and customized trimmings to make it look stock. The black and orange sports livery coupled with the quite pointless Lambo Styled Doors (LSD) complete the look. The black and orange color scheme continues in the interior which reveals a 2+1 seating layout leaving extra room in the rear for an over-the-top audio system.

VW Passat R36 Styling Study in Worthersee

Enough fresh metal to make any major international motor show blush, VW has amazed the crowd at this year’s GTI meet at Wörthersee Austria today with the Audi TT Clubsport Quattro, Golf GTI Performance Concept, Audi A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro and the Scirocco GT24 race car as the finale.

The 300-hp, 3.6-liter V6 remains, but the stock exhaust has been upgraded with a new cat-back unit sporting larger tailpipes. The front brakes have also been swapped out in favor of larger Brembo six-piston units and the wheels are 20-inchers pulled from the Touareg R-Line. All the chrome trim has also been removed and replaced with pieces that match the Passat’s Moonlight Blue hue. Inside, race-ready Recaros replace the softer buckets found on the standard model, and they match the two-tone, black-and-white steering wheel, shift boot and even seat belts quite nicely. Volkswagen has made it clear that the Passat R36 Variant Styling Study is exactly what its name would imply, but don’t be surprised to find some of these custom bits available through VW’s Individual program in the future.

Volkswagen Tiguan diesel launch delayed in the U.S.?

Volkswagen Tiguan diesel launch delayed in the U.S.?

For some time now, reports and rumors had us believing that a U.S.-market diesel variant of the Volkswagen Tiguan was a done deal. Today at the Boulder, Colorado launch of VW’s new compact softroader, we were reminded that you can’t always believe what you hear—and you can’t always get what you want.

The first 2009 Tigs are rolling into dealerships as you read this, but all of them will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four that’s found under the hood of the GTI hot hatch. In U.S.-spec guise, that means an even 200 horsepower and 207 pound feet of torque, yoked to either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic with a manumatic gear lever. EPA mileage figures range depending on transmission choice and the number of driven wheels, but a front-drive manual S model receives a rating of 19 city / 26 highway. The full-boat SEL with 4Motion and automatic transmission returns 18 city / 24 highway.

VW could build Porsches in U.S.

VW could build Porsches in U.S.

Volkswagen could build Porsche’s Cayenne SUV at its new U.S. plant. However, the title of a story in Germany’s Handelsblatt ePaper is clear: Volkswagen is considering building Porsche Cayennes at its new plant in the U.S.

While VW hasn’t made a decision on the plant yet, it’s been confirmed that the automaker is looking at locations in Alabama, Michigan and Tennessee to produce 150,000 units annually, including the Jetta and an all-new Passat-sized sedan. How the Cayenne fits into that equation remains a mystery, but the idea that VW and Audi could shift production of its Touareg and Q7 Stateside means that building the Cayenne in the U.S. is a distinct possibility.

Price premium for new Passat CC

Volkswagen clearly believes it can charge a premium for style, judging by the newly-announced prices for its four-door, four-seater Passat CC ‘coupé’.

Two trim levels are on offer: standard CC and GT. In standard guise the Passat CC comes equipped with sports suspension, 17-inch alloys, climate control, touchscreen CD stereo sound system, electrically adjustable sports seats and a multifunction leather steering wheel.
